Chobe River Safari
Welcome to Caprivi Strip, where Namibia meets Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. The mighty Victoria Falls are just within a very short road distance.
While visiting Caprivi Strip, a three-night river safari stay on a luxury houseboat along the Chobe River is a unique experience impossible to forget.
The Zambezi Queen Collection by Mantis operates three small luxury houseboats named Chobe Princesses, each with four private air conditioning en-suite bedrooms, outdoor living area and even a plunge pool on the upper deck view point . Chobe Princesses operate on a full board basis. Two river safari expeditions per person per day are also included in the nightly rate, one taking place at sunrise and the second river safari will be in the afternoon, finishing after sunset. During your river safari you can expect to see wildlife everywhere you look: elephants bathing, buffaloes, zebra, kudu, monkeys, lions, wild dogs, leopard, cheetah, rhinos, crocodiles and so much more…
On one side of the Chobe River you will find lots of remote Namibian villages whilst the Botswana side of the river is home to Chobe National Park.

How to get to Caprivi Strip, Namibia.
To get to Caprivi Strip on an international flight, you would need to land either at Livingstone airport on the Zambian side or, Victoria Falls airport on the Zimbabwean side. Both local airports are just a short flight from Johannesburg.
The time difference between UK and South Africa is minimal (they are two hours ahead of us during our autumn and winter period and just one hour ahead during our spring and summer months). Taking an evening flight from the UK and arriving the next morning into Victoria Falls, particularly if this being your first trip to Africa, will definitely cause a great impression on you!
Best time to visit Caprivi Strip, Victoria Falls National Park and Chobe National Park.
October, November and December months are typically the season when the water levels are at their lowest. If you were planning to visit Victoria Falls around this time, you will be able to fully appreciate the geological formation of the Falls and its full length and scope. From the Zambian side, these months will also be the best for those daring to swim at Devil’s Pool or to enjoy a picnic on the lip of the Falls. Most of the water flows from the “Devil’s Cataract” on the Zimbabwean side.
From February to around April and May is when you will see the greatest flow of the Falls and the spray rises high into the sky so you can expect to get very wet. The aerial views are spectacular at this time of the year. January and February are typically the wettest months.
The best months for game viewing in the Chobe area are June to October, which is their dry season, as wildlife gathers around water holes and by the Chobe River and vegetation will be at its thinnest, making it easier to spot animals in the bush. During summer months ( November to May ), birdlife is very good with the summer migrants to the area. Fishing is also very good, both summer and winter months. September and October are our favourite months to travel to Chobe & Victoria Falls with hardly any rainfall, excellent viewing of the Falls and superb game viewing! This time of the year is also low risk of malaria and malaria tablets are not compulsory but again, you will need to check with your local GP about this prior to your trip.
